Dr. Karina Loya was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science in 1993. She received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa in 1997. She then completed her surgical residency at the Harris County Podiatric Surgical Residency Program in Houston, Texas. Dr. Loya is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is Board Certified in foot surgery. She is also a member of the Texas and American Podiatric Medical Associations.
Dr. Loya is married and lives in Waco with her husband and their two children. Dr. Loya is fluent in Spanish and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities such as water and snow skiing and white water rafting.
Dr. Loya joined Ballew & Associates Podiatry, P.A. in 1999 which then became Waco Foot & Ankle, P.A. in 2009. The practice specializes in medical and surgical treatment of all foot and ankle disorders and provides the highest quality of foot and ankle care to people of all ages. Dr. Loya and her partners share a passion for therapies and treatments that optimize patient outcomes and they strive to provide the most comprehensive, personalized and compassionate medical care to all their patients.
Dr. Steven A. Sterriker was born and raised in Anoka, Minnesota, a small suburb of Minneapolis-St.Paul. After graduating from Anoka Senior High School, Dr. Sterriker earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas where he graduated in 1992 with High Academic Honors. He then attended the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine where he completed his Master of Science degree in Biomedical Science in 1994, followed by his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1996. He then moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin where he spent three years at the Gundersen Clinic/Lutheran Hospital as a surgical resident in Foot and Ankle Reconstruction and Primary Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Sterriker and his wife Jennifer enjoy spending time with their children, Hannah and Jacob. He also enjoys various outdoor and recreational activities including mountain biking, golfing, tennis, and fitness. His academic and career interests include research in foot and ankle biomechanics and surgery with a special interest in diabetic limb salvage and preservation.
Dr. Sterriker brings not only a sound educational background to Waco Foot & Ankle, P.A., but also a sense of concern and recognition for the needs of our patients. He and his partners provide comprehensive medical and surgical treatment of all foot and ankle disorders to all patients ranging from infancy to adulthood.
Dr. Willingham was born in Austin, Texas. He is a native of Waco where he attended LaVega High School, graduating in 1992. After high school he attended The University of Texas at Austin graduating in 1997 with a B.A. in Biology. He then attended medical school in Chicago, Illinois at Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine where he graduated in 2004 with honors and as a member of the Durlacher Honor Society. He then moved to Colorado where he completed an extensive three year surgical residency.
While in residency he performed over 2100 surgical procedures on the foot and ankle. During his residency training he had extensive experience at the Diabetic Wound Care Center in Denver, Colorado where the emphasis was on diabetic wounds, multidisciplinary limb salvage, Charcot reconstruction, application of total contact casting for diabetic foot wounds and external fixation for various foot and ankle deformities. Dr. Willingham has extensive training in complex foot and ankle surgery including joint replacements and arthroscopic procedures.
Dr. Willingham has two children. He enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include reading, computer technology, golf and tennis.

Dr. Townson was born and raised in Whitney, Texas and has returned to care for his local community. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 2007. He then went to the California School of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California where he graduated with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree receiving Cum Laude honors. He then completed a three year comprehensive foot and ankle surgical training program at the VA Health Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received training in pediatrics, sports medicine and rearfoot / ankle reconstructive surgery including arthrosopy, ligament & tendon repair, lower extremity fractures, total ankle replacement, and Charcot reconstruction. He also received training in Poseti clubfoot casting while in New Mexico. he is board qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot, rearfoot reconstructive surgery and ankle surgery.
Dr. Townson enjoys spending time with his wife, son and dog. he also enjoys wathcing Aggie football and being outdoors; hunting, fishing and hiking.
